Month: September 2014

Tuesday is almost Monday…

I’m happy with my progress, three posts in a row! The weeks are flying by and I’m trying to savor special moments.

I painted a small abstract today, Untitled, 9×12″ acrylic on canvas. The first try was a wipe, then I built something I’m fairly happy with.

I’m halfway through my third Victoria Abbott mystery, The Sayers Swindle. It’s actually the second in the series, but I accidentally read the third one second. Oops. I’m still enjoying them although the plot in the third book (The Wolfe Widow) was a little obvious. Lots of likeable characters which is what always keeps me engaged.

Have a good week!

Monday/Thursday same thing…

I’m counting this blog post as a success because we are still in the following week from my last post. 😀

For the 30 in 30 painting challenge I’ve completed this painting, Double Decker, 8×10″, acrylic on canvas board…

I’m very happy with this one, and feel like I’m back on track. Today my 5 year old grandson Nathan helped me make two abstract paintings. I confess I did most of the painting because we had Sponge Bob going on the TV lol. They’re currently untitled, the one on the left is 8×8″, and on the right 8×10″, both are acrylic on canvas board.

I finished another book, a cozy mystery by an author I hadn’t read before, Victoria Abbott. The Christie Curse (A Book Collector Mystery) is the first in the series and I liked it so well I immediately bought the next two. I found the writing engaging and I was quickly drawn into caring about the characters. That’s a winning combo for me – give it a try!

Till next Monday. For real.

Graduated, Moved, and Finally Settled

My goal for the rest of this year is to blog once a week (on Mondays). 😀

I’m participating in Leslie Saeta’s 30 Paintings in 30 Days this month. Join us!!

I’ve made 9 or 10 projects that are digital paintings, printed, and collaged onto canvas. I don’t know if those really count, but I love making them. Finally today I finished a for real painting, 8″x10″ acrylic on canvas…

Running Puggy

I may do a few more touches on the face but overall I’m pretty happy.

I’ve also been reading a lot for my multiple reading challenges:

Mort by Terry Pratchett, The Interestings by Meg Wolitzer, The Good Luck of Right Now by Matthew Quick, #Girlboss by Sophia Amoruso, The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt, The Fault in Our Stars, by John Green, Flight Behavior by Barbara Kingsolver, Whisker of Evil by Rita Mae Brown, Big Red Tequila by Rick Riordan.

I have really enjoyed and would recommend all of these books, even though I was sometimes irritated – for example the ending of The Goldfinch… but the writing was so compelling I couldn’t stop. And you’ll need tissues for The Fault in Our Stars (I liked the character development). Flight Behavior is a really good story, I’ve got The Poisonwood Bible on my list for soon. I’ve really enjoyed reading for fun, so much easier than textbooks.

I’ll be back next Monday with several paintings, and some more books.
